The trip, in short
A five-day safari combining Tsavo West's volcanic landscapes and Mzima Springs with Amboseli's elephant herds under Kilimanjaro.
Tsavo West is one of Kenya’s least crowded major parks, with a landscape shaped by old lava flows, the spring-fed Mzima Springs where hippo and crocodile are visible through an underwater viewing chamber, and the Shetani lava fields left by a relatively recent eruption. It’s a good pairing with Amboseli, an hour or so further south, where the drier open plains and swamps concentrate large elephant herds against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro on a clear day.
The two parks are different enough in character that the trip doesn’t feel repetitive — Tsavo’s rugged volcanic terrain gives way to Amboseli’s flat, elephant-dense plains — while staying close enough together to keep transfer times reasonable. Five days gives each park two full days of activities.
What makes this one special
