The trip, in short
A full-day tour combining a walking or cycling safari through Hell's Gate National Park with a boat trip on Lake Naivasha.
Hell’s Gate is one of the few parks in Kenya where you’re allowed to explore on foot or by bike, without a vehicle between you and the wildlife — zebra, giraffe, buffalo and warthog graze freely alongside the trail, and the towering cliffs that reportedly inspired scenery in The Lion King make for a dramatic backdrop. The gorge walk at the park’s edge is a highlight, weaving through narrow sandstone walls and past small hot springs.
The second half of the day switches pace entirely with a boat safari on nearby Lake Naivasha, gliding past hippo pods and fish eagles perched along the shore. It’s an active, varied day — walking or cycling, then a boat ride — and a good option for travelers who want a break from vehicle-based game drives.
