The property
A 72-unit lodge on a 420-acre site by Amboseli's Kimana Gate, with tents facing wildlife waterholes and Kilimanjaro views.
Right at Kimana Gate — one of Amboseli’s quieter entrances and the heart of an area known for its outsized elephant herds — Kilima Safari Lodge spreads 72 rooms and tents across a generous 420-acre site. Many of the tents face the property’s own waterholes, which means game viewing sometimes starts from the veranda before a vehicle is even involved, particularly during the dry season when elephants come to drink.
The 50 Classic Safari Tents keep things simple with large private balconies, while the 10 Superior tents add a genuine indulgence — lion-claw bathtubs — and the 12 lodge rooms round out the options for guests who’d rather skip canvas altogether. Every bed comes with a four-poster frame and mosquito netting, and the lodge’s bush dinners, paired with a night game drive and open-air barbecue on the plains, are consistently the most-booked add-on.
